Computer Viruses that Come a Callin’

New computer viruses are generated every day to bother us and damage our computer systems. Below, ten viruses are now considered as the most common in terms of their aptitude or ability to cause damage. Every day new viruses are developed. This is not an all-inclusive list. The greatest thing you can do is be alert, update your anti-virus software and keep up of the current computer virus risks.

Virus: Virus. Virus: Trojan.
A Trojan horse trying to download distant files. The EXPLORER.EXE process will inject a.dll file which causes system instability.

Virus: Microsoft W32.Beagle.CO@mm
A bulk mailing worm that reduces security. It can erase registry sub keys linked to security and can prevent access to websites related to security.

Zagaban
A Trojan horse which can be used as a hidden proxy on the infected computer and which can impede network performance.

Virus: W32/Netsky-P
A mass-mailing worm that spreads to addresses that are formed from files on local disks via email.

Virus: W32/GH.
A Windows platform mass mailing worm and IRC Backdoor Trojan. Messages transmitted by this virus will include: Notice of Account Restriction, Suspension of the Email Account, Security Measures, Members Support, Important Notification.

W32/Mytob-EX virus
A W32-Mytob-GH-like mass mailing worm and IRC backdoor Trojan. W32/Mytob-EX operates in background continually, offering a backdoor server that allows a remote attacker to access and control the machine via IRC channels. This virus spreads using e-mail attachments collected from your e-mail addresses.

W32/Mytob-AS, Mytob-BE, Mytob-C and Mytob-ER virus
This family of worm varieties has comparable features in terms of what they can achieve. They are mass-mailing worms with backdoor features, which may be operated over the Internet Relay Chat (IRC) network. They can also propagate via email and different operating system vulnerabilities, such as LSASS (MS04-011).

Virus: Shafi-D Virus
A mass mailing worm and a peer-to-peer worm that copies into the Windows system folder using the Norton Update.exe filename. It can then produce a number of files with 8 random characters and DLL extensions in the Windows system folder. As ICQ 2005a new!.exe or winamp 5.7 new!.exe, W32/Zafi-D is copied to folders with share, upload, or music names. W32/Zafi-D additionally displays the "CRC: 04F6Bh" caption of a false error message box and the text "Error in packed file!"

Virus: W32/Netsky-D Virus
An IRC backdoor master worm, which can also infect susceptible LSASS PCs (MS04-011).

Virus: W32/Zafi-B
A peer-to-peer (P2P) and email worm that is copied as a random EXE file into the Windows system folder. This worm tests the presence of an Internet link by trying to connect to www.google.com or www.microsoft.com. A bilingual worm with a connected textbox from Hungary that reads, "We urge that the government take care of homeless people, strengthen the penal code and vote for defeat, in order to reduce the ever-increasing crime. June 2004, Pécs (Team SNAF)"
